Hi all,

I have a 2.4Ghz Celeron CPU and can upgrade to a Pentium 4 (Socket 478) CPU with my mobo. If I upgrade from my 2.4Ghz Celeron to Pentium 4 2.66Ghz (which seems to be the highest Northwood/Willimate 533FSB one I can find on eBay), will I see noticeable improvement?

The problem is that when I use Skype with my webcam the CPU usuage just for that goes between 50% and 85%.

Thanks for your help, Doug.

Noticable hmm not like worlds different but for the price you can get them at i would say do it. Everything will run much smoother b/c of the Cache and increase in speed. Look for one around $20...

You won't see a night and day difference, but it'll help with the CPU usage a little. I have a socket 478 P4 I could let go. I forgot if it's 2.6ghz or 2.8ghz. Let me know if you're interested.

In everyday tasks, not much of a difference, but during heavy-CPU hogging applications, you'd notice a difference. A Celeron 2.4 is alot less if compared to a Pentium. The Celeron is the "budget" version of the Pentium, as was the "Sempron" series on the Athlons.
