ok so I got a RAZR V3m phone and the port on the side matches up with a USB cable I have. I plugged it in and my PC recognized it as a phone but it said "hardware night not work properly". Do I need a special cable or a special driver? I want to transfer pics and music to and from my phone.
 
yea either get the cd that comes with it. im guessing.... its from verizon correct? i have never used a v3m, cuz..... i hate the stripped and blocked versions. but if there is an option for connection, try changing it to memory card er somin.

if u want to try to find more help er somin, search some older phone threads that i have posted in. i think i talked about the v3m. if not, lol ask me and ill help ya.
 
Ya it came with a CD but I think it's just a quick reference guide thing. I don't think it's the actual driver. But say I do get it to work, how would I transfer stuff to and from my phone?
 
The program you need to link the phone to the computer is called "motorola phone tools" im not sure where you can download it from. But i used to have it for my motorola. im pretty sure its the only program that works for them. If you find a place to download it. And its free if i remember correctly, you might need to go into the menu and update it once its installed for it to be able to recognize your particular phone

Ya I checked on that and it says it's not free
 
yea well if he is actually askin about how to transfer stuff, i think hes not that informative about phone hacking fatdragon.

MPT (motorola phone tools) is a registered app from motorola and is NOT free. either way, we are talkin about a v3m here, so that would in no way work at all.

if u do go into phone modding, take into consideration that any firmware fixes u apply voids the warranty onto ur phone. and by askin the question on how to transfer stuff, im guessin ur phone is pretty new. so i doubt u reli wanna take the risk and void any warranty.

ps. there is a seem edit to enable MPT usage, but that would also void the warranty.

and b4 u can even do wat fatdragon suggests, u needa install the p2k drivers.
 
i checked the verizonwireless page and it says, u need the music essentials kit. rofl....... and cuz its verizon... ur gonna have to buy that, or have a friend burn it for u if they got it. its just software. usb cable u already got im assuming.
 
I don't know about motorola but I connect my nokia without any drivers, but you will have access only to the memory card not the phone memory.
I connect via USB cable and choose Data storage mode from my phone and the computer recognizes the phone as a flash driver.
It transfers data much faster than Nokia mode.

yea thats cool.

but since we are talking about a CMDA razr from verizon here... its a lot diff since they block off stuff and are more money hungry for u to buy their products. if it was unlocked (like mines) u barely need a thing..... if u got the right resources. ehhe

I have the music essentials kit from Verizon, it works for music. I dunno about photos. I have the RAZR V3m, also, the music essentials is the only type of software that works, all others won't work, tried it:(. Anyway, you need the kit.

It's not at all complicated, just buy the kit and forget these other people, they are talking about unlocked phones
