Cellphone or Smartdevice used as audio recorder

To use a device to take audio recordings, aside from iphones, what might be the piece of hardware to go with. One that is also a decent phone of course.

Any of these have the ability to attach a mini stereo mic?

I haven't heard of any external mics for phones.. Most microphones are meant to do the basics.. Phone calls, videos.. They don't have a lot of range and tend to pick up quite a bit of static..

If you really need good audio get a digital camera + audio mic, then split the audio.. There's a lot of good microUSB mics for cameras such as GoPro.

or better yet get a USB microphone to use with a computer.. :P

Would be using this to take notes with during the day, almost a Dictaphone.
One on a phone would do this.

Wanted better audio for one application in particular. I do have a sony wx300 which is a high end point and shoot. Specs say: Microphone - Stereo / mono
Audio Format - AC3 (Stereo).

Don't see where it might take an external mic. Might the microUSB mic go in the same microUSB used for charging?
