Certifications

I'm looking at getting CompTIA A+ certified. I know the material fairly well, and with a little bit of studying, I'll have it down. What I'm wondering is, could I land a job as an extra pair of hands at a local computer shop with a certification? I'm in high school now, and I'd do whatever I have to in order to get such a job, rather than my friends who work at fast food places.

Anyone have ideas, suggestions, stories, opinions?

Yes sir. Better job imo would be building servers or you could work at a CompUSA type store to get troubleshooting experience.
They pay $14 - $25 per hour in the larger cities (excluding LA & NY).

Make sure you learn it, don't just memorize.....it'll pay 10 fold in the future.

I applaud you for being ambitious. Smart move.

Advice: don't try to tell anybody how to do their business. An OEM server manuf. here apparently had some young people telling him how AMD was so much better. Not a good idea if you like your job. As he told me "I've being doing this for years and with AMD we've had issues and for that reason we stick with Intel".
