Cubic feet per minute (CFPM or CFM) is a non-SI unit of measurement of the flow of a gas or liquid that indicates how much volume in cubic feet pass by a stationary point in one minute.

It is the measurement used in fans to determine how many cubic feet of air the fan can push in one minute. so, cubic feet/minute=CFM

if you are shopping in the right stores, (ie: newegg.com is the best) then in the product description it should list the cfm.

The fan will have specifications like that listed either on the website you
are purchasing from, or on the packaging itself.

The bigger the number, the more air they will push.

You just have to balance between airflow and noise,
as the faster the fan, the more noise they will create.

The db (decibel level) is also stated on most websites.

Usually under 25db is fine, if you want a silent computer, keep it under 20db. Anything over 25CFM is fine.

One of the best fans I have found for sound:airflow is the Noctua fans. I built a silent gaming PC and used these fans on it only. Pushes a good bit of flow for the noise level.
