Change of Icons / format of files

Hi,

Am new to this, I mean I just got registered....so am really that new. Since past 1 week I have been noticing that most of my media files like (.avi or .mpg or .mp3 etc) are now converted or are shown as .JPEG format instead. When I double click on the media file to open and play it, it opens using the windows picture viewer instead of opening in my media player like vlc media player. I want to know whats causing this problem and whats the solution for this, please recommend me some good anti virus software which can monitor and keep my pc safe and clean. I prefer the cracked, free version of anti virus software...waiting eagerly for your valuable suggestion/ guidance:):)

Perhaps you'd like to reword your question after reading the forum rules

Instead of using a hacked or cracked version of retail software...you can just use AVG and the price is FREE!

I ran it for about 6 months with no issues.

Right click an MPEG for instance, properties and look at what it opens with, click "Change" and browse to your fav program and re-associate the file. See if it keeps the change.

yes, i changed the open with option to always open with vlc media player, its opening with the vlc media player now, but the icon still remains that of the .jpeg.I have no problems with the icon. but for example if i have completed downloading a file through a torrent software, then after completing the download, the torrent software shows that the file is missing as it does not realise the change of format of the media file from .avi to .jpeg. How do I fix this problem? Does this change mean any further change in my pc's performance or in the harm level to me, is it really dangerous or something to be really serious about or pretty normal, how do i end it ? please guide, thanks for replying.
 
I can't help you anymore as it looks like an illegal download off a torrent site. You'll get a bollicking and so will I.
