Change screen width on dell inspiron

Hi at all!
My left screen side broke on my inspiron 1464 laptop. Does anyone know how to change the screen width so that I can still use my laptop? I am working with the windows 7 system.

what graphics do you have?
ATI it can be done within CCC, Intel HD has a custom resolution tab in its control panel. Nvidia should also have a custom resolution option somewhere.

I am using intel. I tried the custom resolution but it didn't work out. I could only enter new resolutions but cound't change the width. :confused:
 
the first resolution # is the screen width. For instance on 1280*800, the screen is 1280 pixles wide. If you lower that # it should change the width.

Is your laptop under warranty?
