Changeing to Linux

i couldn't see what you were getting it but worked out how to do it, did the shut down thing and then clicked on cd/dvd and then unchecked mount image, all seems good so far so i can get onto trying out linux :)

You could always run a dual boot with Windows to run your games and itunes. Then you can use Linux for your normal activities such as web browsing, email, and IM.

Why would you dual boot for that? The guy has 8 freaking gigs of RAM! You can run all of those in a VM and never have to reboot.

lol, yea it's running pretty fast (linux).

About the virtual machine and what was said just then about using windows for games, linux for everything else. Could i give about 2/3 of my drive to linux on the virtual machine and keep the rest for windows and games? I'd rather keep windows as the "main" because even though it is a 64 bit os that i have downloaded the VM seems to only let me use up to 3 gig of ram, so i'd prefer to keep the 5 left ovoer for games for more performance. Would this work?

well are you going to use Linux for such things? I would try it out first to see if you even like it then decide about slicing up a hard drive.
 
I went to virtual box. Does it only support windows 64 bit? I have windows 32bit vista and want to try out linux.
 
On the site there is a 32 and 64 bit version.

You also download the 32 or 64 bit OS and then either burn it and install on a partition from the disc or just use the image file, so it works with 32 or 64. I've still not worked out how to get the screen "full" screen, the full screen option is, on ubuntu, 800x600, but i think that is because i can't find ubuntu linux drivers for my video cards
