changging the cpu fan

does changging the cpu fan from the original fan to another cpu fan will make the performance of the cpu goes down? i'm using pentium D 2.8Ghz
 
Fan and heatsink (the thing under the fan, usually aluminum) or just the fan? Usually getting a new fan and heatsink is a good thing, and just a new fan can be good if it is a better than the stock one. In any case, it wont decrease performance unless you just forget a fan or something and it overheats and dies.
 
Performance gain or loss is relavent to your CPU temperature..... If your CPU is running hot and you put a new heatsink in, you may find slightly faster, more reliable performance increase. And likewise, if you have normal temps and you either get a incompatible heatsink, mount the heatsink wrong, or lack of one, your temps will rise and your computer starts to slow down.

The only performance increase you might see is if your CPU is currently running ridiculously hot (say 60C+) of which a new heatsink will bring it down to safer levels.

Although, sometimes buying a new heatsink can sometimes be at an insurance level if as your heatsink is running at higher temps but not enough to affect performance (Idles temps around 50C) or if its is dying......

the cooler your CPU runs the better. plain and simple. ive always trusted retail sinks and fans. but i am a liquid cooling junky. so no fans here :)
 
one of my friends said that if we want to change the fan we need to change the thing (aluminium) under the fan too.and that make the cpu performance go down.is that true??

No, you can just change the fan, but if you put a crapier fan than what was on it and cause your CPU to run hotter or overheat it could drop the CPU performance!
 
There are plenty out there that won't break your bank..... The Big/mini Typhons have good reviews as well as any from Zalman.... There are also plenty of other that do pretty well but your really have to look at reviews.....
