Changing Cards

Well I'm finally gonna upgrade my graphics card. Getting a 7600GT :D

Quick question, if I change my card, what software part I'll have to do? For drivers, Nvidia has the all-in-one driver, would I have to reinstall that anyway? I don't need a reformat, right? I wouldn't think so anyway...

Thanks

card will come with all the drivers normally on cd, just install em. otherwise go to nvidia homepage and find the right ones, should be everything, no need to format

Just turn off the PC, switch the cards, and reboot. The new card should be automatically recognized, and use the included CD to install the new drivers.

You may want to uninstall the old card from device manager before the switch, but this is usually not necessary.

I know there's a CD with it, but Nvidia homepage has more updated drivers. So I'm just going to have to re-install the Nvidia drivers and it will be fine?

Yeah, Theorterically you dont even need the drivers, but it will run better with them, and you will probally need to reinstall the drivers, but its not a big deal and its easy.

If you use the Windows drivers all you can do is very basic stuff. You cant watch videos, and you cant play games.

Since you already have an nVidia card, you can most likely just plug it in and go. However I would re-install the nVidia drivers, to make sure theres no compatibility issues and that you get the most up-to-date drivers/app for your new card.
