I have an external 80 gig hd and I would like to swap places of my internal 40 gig hd which is getting full. Can I copy WinXP onto the external along with other folders from the 40gig then remove it from the shell and use it as a master hd and 40 gig as storage by deleting windows from it.... Both drives have been partitioned equally..
tks in advance....fw

WinXP Pro
Pentium4 2.8
Ati 9800 All in Wonder
512 mb ram
Plextor DVD RW PX-740A
Sony 20" lcd flat panel

i tryed this the other day and it didnt work! i had to reinstall windows for the 14000000 time! so what i did was just made the 2 hard drives internal!

I do not have room to hook up two hard drives with so much junk in the box now. I could probably do away with the 250 zip drive as I bought a couple Sandisk mini cruzer 1 & 2 Gig. I got burned on EBay......bought one 2 gig no brand name for $60....once you got it loaded with over 1.5 gig and then went to utilize you only got the first 256mb after you booted. It would show in Properties as 2gig but you could not access it. Then guy then fled with not only mine but dozens of other people's money. Paypal got me $46 back, but now I only buy name brand...lesson learned!!

it will work as long as you are not hooking it up as a usb2/1394 boot drive. if it is a third party enclosure drive you can ghost the drive and then put the 80gb inside the case.
