Changing laptop processor?

Is is possible to upgrade a laptops processor to a faster one? THe reason I am asking is there are many laptops on ebay that are really cheap and dont sound bad except for the really slow processors so I wanted to get one if I could possibly swith the procoessor for a 1.2ghz instead of the 800mhz they had. Any help is much appreciated.

depending on the mainboard. if the mobo supports the new processor, yes, it is possible

no soldering require to change the cpu,

you need to know the exact model of the laptop, use this to find out the socket type of the mobo, and then buy the relevant cpu. Find user manual online to open and change cpu (which can be a bugger to do)
