Changing Multiple File/Folder Names

Hello all ... does anyone know of an easy way of changing the name of a number of different files or folders at the same time? For example, I have a CD Rip (legally obtained of course!!) and the MP3 file names all are in this format: (band_name)_(album_Title)_(TrackNumber)_(Name_of_the_Track).mp3. Can I change the MP3 File names to this format: (TrackNumber) - (Name of The Track).mp3 without going in to change each file name individually? I.E., I would like to eliminate the Band & Album name from the file names, and change the underlines (_) to spaces ( ). I'd like to do the same to a number fo folder titles at once.

Is that kind of "batch" utility available?

As always, Thanks!! ;)

Have fun looking for one. The quick way to change a file name is to right click on the file through Windows Explorer and choose properties. In the general tab you simply delete the portion of the name you want to remove and press the enter key. As you rip each cd you have to do them individually.

One thing easy to do is create a main folder for music files and create several folders inside for different groups or types of music. Set the default folder to the main directory until each track off of a cd is renamed and drag them into a folder already created. That works here at the time. When going to make a playlist for WMP? you simply open the WMP library and add the individual files to a list to be saved. The files are still found in the original folders.
