Changing my WMV formatted video files into a different video format?

I was wondering if there's a type of software that will let me change the format of a WMV video file into a MPEG-1, MPEG-3, Quicktime, etc... video format?

videolan is only a player for videos it does not change anything.
you will need a converter, there are many of them out there, google it
