Changing RAM speed

I just bought 2 X 1GB PC5300 240-Pin DDR2 667MHz Memory to replace my old 512MB 533MHz. Now i have 2 sticks instead of one, so i put one in channel A (slot 1) to replace the old one, and put the other one in channel B (slot3). My mother board is Intel D945GTP http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/d945gtp/index.htm Did i install the new memory properly?

I have a program called 'EVEREST' and i can see that my computer reconized the new memory, but it shows it to be running at 533MHz. Shouldn't it be @ 667MHZ? Do i have to change it in the BIOS or something?

The key word is dram timings found in the advanced section in the bios. You have to refer to the board's manual and read that section over. The first item is either left at auto or set to 800 with the rest according to the timings like 4-4-4-14 2T would be see with 4 above 4 above 4 above 14 above the option of Auto/1T/2T. If you set to 1T plan on removing the battery for a minute to clear the cmos. !

Installing memory is done by referring to the manual as well in order to read which slots are used for enabling the dual channel mode when two or more dimms are installed. The #3 slot for the B channel would usually be seen as B1 if that and the A1 slot are blue with slots #2 + #4 being black. On other boards each channel will see a different colot for both slots. That's why you go by the manual for that.

Go into your bios and make sure the Ram is not set to manual at 533/266. If it is, set it to 667/333 or put it on auto.

One the first of two boards on the new build here the auto setting seemed well even with the timings manually set for the performance memory used. However once the first board quite after only a few days and saw a working replacement even the auto/800 setting had to set at 800mhz to see that on the post screen.

The manual setting to 667 would be the best move to insure the correct speed is seen. That seems to be the case for various makes and model boards.
