Changing the BIO

Hello All,

So after a little research and recommendations I have decided to change my CPU from AMD 64 2200mhz to the AMD 64 FX60. I called the Asus people and they told me that the motherboard can support the fx60, but I maybe have to change the Bio. How do I do that? Thanks!

Firstly it's BIOS and you shouldn't really have to change any settings for it to run, maybe the temperature settings for the fan cut in thresholds but other than that , if the board will support it and you fit it correctly, then it "should" run

If using windows, you may trigger the activation again and have to reactivate your version of windows within 3 days(I think it is) due to a significant hardware change.

Asus has a nice little utility for flashing the BIOS. Download it below:

Next go here and find the appropriate BIOS and download the file from your desktop.
http://support.asus.com/faq/faq.aspx

Open the updater, and load the BIOS file from your desktop.

Make sure you computer is not interrupted in anyway, or powers off while updating.
