Changing what loads up on start up

How do I go about changing what loads up when I start my computer. Over time I have accumlated to much stuff on my taskbar next to my clock.

Got to 'Run' type 'Msconfig' click on 'start up' then Tick/Untick what you want or dont want

Actually it does not work on all windows. In fact Winxp's FATHER OS (Win2K) doesnt use MSCONFIG. NOT to mention apple or linux. I am not sure what Vista uses.

My aim was to get the writer to understand his question was not specific enough. He needs to mention his OS.

vista also uses msconfig. I know for sure it works on 98, xp and vista, i dont remember if it did on 95. those are the only ones ive used. Im always editing my registry or using msconfig, theyre pretty useful.
