Charging issues

Hi,

My battery has gone - it overheated so charger will not plug in and I have no charge on it at all. I've been trying to look for an externat USB laptop battery but have had no luck. Is there such a thing? All i want is to get the pictures and documents off of the laptop, which at the moment i can't do.

Thanks

can you not just run the laptop from the power supply without the battery at all ?

I don't think so, i'm pretty sure it is melted on the inside, so the charger will not actually connect properly. When I plug it in, i'll get about a second of charge (the charging light flashes once) but that's it.

well if it's just the data you want from the HDD, then you could use an external HDD enclosure(2.5") and put the hard drive into it then plug into another pc and transfer data you want/need.

Thanks you, this sounds perfect. Just curious about the 2.5? Like most, i'm a novice. So they cost around £20? Just to clarify - i take the hard drive out? Thank you so much for your help

2.5" refers to the size of the HDD in your laptop which I'm 99.99999% certain will be 2.5 inch as opposed to 3.5" that you get in Desktop systems.

Yes remove the HDD from the laptop and put into the external casing, then plug the external into another PC and it "should" show up in "my computer"(after the drivers have installed and it's recognised) You can then go through the HDD and find your personal files(within the Documents and settings>Windows>Users folder(If I got the path correct))
