chassis fan controller????

my desktop chassis should come with something called "Fan controller" labelled on the boxset but it's actually missing, I don't bother sending an email to the manufacturer and waiting for their response and shipment. The chassis comes with two fans and I am using only one now, and the other one is left unused.

My question is

1. what is a ''fan controller'' actually? is it something to allow running more than one fan?

2. is the "fan controller" something universal or standard and so I can use any cheap fan controller bought in anywhere?

3. does it really make a huge difference running two fans instead of one? I am using intel i5 2400 @3.1 (no overclock) and 4x2 GB RAM, three 2TB internal HDD, optical drive, no sound card and no display card. Antec 400W PSU.

My chassis is missing a fan controller as stated on the box set, I don't bother sending them email and pictures and waiting for their replacement. I 'd like to know if any ''fan controller'' bought anywhere is actually the same thing and is not restricted to a particular chassis.

Most fit in 3.5" or 5.25" drive bays, and can control most fans. You really don't need one though.

^ Considering most motherboards have options to control fan speed, or programs such as SpeedFan.

The chassis itself contains two fans, but I have only connected one. I can't find where to connect the second one. My mother board is a basic ASUS board.

1. do two fans make a big difference?

2. where to connect the second fans? is it that some motherboards do not support more than one fan?

3. by the way, why the speed of fans is important??

More fans = more airflow

The fans connect to either your motherboard, or directly to your power supply via molex

The higher the fan speed, the more air it can push per minute
