Is there an way i can make my own chat server?

What do you mean by "chat server"? Do you mean a program like AIM where people hook up to your servers to chat? Or something like IRC.

What will it be used for?

No AIM chat room, Id like to host the server on my home server that i have here. I have fast download and upload speed so that wont be a problem.

so lets just get this all straght. you want a chat server on like a java based plugin on a web page that anyone can use...

now the options.

Do you want people to log in
do you want each person to have a privet chat room or do you want everyone to chat together.
are you willing to pay or not.

there are some good/free flash, html, java based chat scripts you can use.
look at the demos in this page. type anything in username and pass fields. Is that what you are looking for?

Id like the log in option, but i dont need it.. Id like a general room for everyone to join, If i can get also privite rooms that would be great as well... But i just want a chat room for people to access on my website ( or off a HTTP server ) that people to come and chat for support.. So it dont really matter how its layed out, Havein it on my website would be the best bet...... Id like it to be free, I put to much in my website as it is... If not depending on how much it is ill get it.

Look into jabber since it is open source and things like google chat use it. You can create a server however, I wouldn't plan on hosting it out of your home.
