Ok, My sister wants me to build her a computer for under $500, Here is what i have in mind.

Question is, Do you think i would benefit from the Dual Core?

Motherboard:

Gigabyte M61P-S3 NV6100 ATX DUALDDRII800 VGA PCIEx16 SATAII RAID GbELAN 1394a = $89

Case:

Deluxe 500W ATX Midi tower case(L8041) Black Prescott ready = $65

RAM:

1024MB PC4200 DDR2 RAM Corsair twin pack (2X512MB ) = $105

HDD:

Samsung 250G 7200RPM SATAII = $79

CPU:

AMD Athlon™ 64 3800+AM2 Processor Retail Dual Core AM2 65W = $127
OR
AMD Athlon™ 64 AM2 3800+ Processor Retail (AM2) = $105

With the Dual Core Total = $465
OR
With the Single Core Total = $443

Btw, I already have a LeadTek 6200 Graphics Card i'm giving her
And a CRT Monitor
And Keyboard + Mouse
And Speakers
(all that cos i'm a good Bro :p)
Do You think the Extra $20 Is worth it?

Well, It's a surprise for he BF, It will be used for UNI Work, Internet browsing, and Games. (most graphic intense game will be NFS-Carbon...)

Well. I have a SPARE Graphics card, she is a uni Student so she doesn have much money.

Anyway, It's all she is going too need.

So you Definitely think go for the Dual Core?

I think you can get Core 2 duo E4300 for the same price, and that would perform better than X2 3800+
