Ok, i am very budgeted, and i want to find a desktop.

Before, it was in the 800 range, now its got to be around 600.

I want the most bang i can get for my buck. This will be used for some gaming, and will diffinatly need to be very upgradable since i will need to once my laptop won't handle games aswell as it will now.

IDK where to start, so could somebody just help me?

Start with the AMD Athlon 64 (939) series, and the NF4 chipset on the motherboard. You'll be able to upgrade with PCI Express, and go for 512 to 1024 mb of RAM. Look at the GeForce 6600 series, if that's too expensive, go for a Radeon x600 or x700 series card. Those are some basic choices for a gaming rig that should help out a little.

why is sli a must? if u wants to upgrade in the future then he can just get a 7800gtx/ultra, that is suppose to be better than 2x6800gt's in sli. if he is going to get a 6600gt now then there is no point rly to get another one in a year, he should just save up for a good card

Ok, don't need windows, already have pro.
No need for sli though, i'd rather just go with a better card in the future such as a 7800 or something.

also, is there any other way to really shave off some of that money? becuase i need it in the 600 range deffinatly.

Im starting to get sick of these copy-paste-i-wanna-jack-my-post-count posts of yours. Read the first post next time.

he wants it upgradeable. SLI is a must!
Out of 400+ posts this is the first time i saw you say something i ... um ... ahem ... strongly disagree with (that's a compliment of sorts). SLI wont be a must for the next two revisions of processors (and possibly ever but thats outside of any predictability scope) ... why not? Because game programmers dont design games around SLI configurations. (not to mention you're suggesting a SLI configuration on a $600 budget ... there are more useful things to spend money on)

IDK where to start, so could somebody just help me?
- AMD Athlon64 2800 [ADA2800AEP4AX, $130]
- MSI K8N Neo3F [$70]
- Powercolor X800Pro [$175]
- PNY Optima 1GB [$90]
- Xclip 450W 12V@32A [$50]
Total so far = $515USD with room for modifications

Thank you!

But now, at the moment, i have found out a way to get it for almost free.

My parents are wanting a new computer, so i think i might just get them to get an emachines with a 3400+ 1gb ram ect ect.... upgrade the video card and maybe the psu, and i should be fine with only 200 dollars spent, and i get a tv tuner and get some money in my pocket.

i'm sensing you don't like the idea, preator.
Well it's your money (or your parents rather) and you're experience so i dont really have any stake in anything here ... personally i'd build my own or find a friend to help me build it but that's me ... since you're getting this system really cheap (as your parents are buying stuff for it anyways) then go for it :)
