Cheap tablets

Was just wondering what sort of tablets you guys would get if you were on a budget, let's say no more than about £200 or so.

Currently test driving one of these http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/tabletpcs/tabletpcs/nov-tab9.html for a local organisation of mine. So far it seems alright for the money, but my Dad has a Kindle Fire which costs about the same and I think is probably better.

Main reason I'm asking is because I'm thinking of possibly going into the 'tablet world'. I'm interested in Android and Windows tablets (not bothered with iOS).

So what would you recommend?

I have been tempted by the nexus 7 ever since I bought the nexus 4. Vanilla android is great. The 7 seems to handle most anything the average user would throw at it. I wouldn't be gaming so don't need a top notch processor or graphic card built into.

I recommend buying it. Largely so in can hear your review of it.

You have to be careful when buying cheap android tablets, most of them do not have google play store access which makes them pretty useless as play store is where you get all your apps, you do get other 3rd party app stores like amazon, but compared to play store they are crap.

If you want cheap but powerful android tablet with google play store access, I highly recommend the sumvision range available on ebuyer, I have had 3 of there tablets and all are powerful for the price and had no problems.

There is also a good buy on at the moment for this acer iconia tablet £99 but with £20 cashback

The nexus is not really a cheap tablet and the biggest problem I have with it is there is no sd card slot, so you are limited to how much you can install on it.

Always go with Nexus products, they receive regular Android updates on time and comes with the pure Android U/I. As for the no SD card, with your google account you have 5 GB of google drive making it easy for data transfer between devices. So I don't understand why people complain since you get 5 GB for free and if you need to transfer more then 5 GB at a time with project like that what are you doing on a tablet anyway.

I would personally stay away from Samsung, I have a S3 and I love the hardware but with touchwiz it really ruins Android and with every update I receive of touchwiz it gets worse and worse.

If you can wait, the new Nexus 7 is coming. I have the current one and it's great but the new one will add features as a higher res screen, rear facing camera, better processor (snapdragon) and will still be made by Asus.

Here is a link : New ASUS Nexus 7

The new S4 will get updates just like any Nexus device.

i am sure there is a tablet called the elonex etouch 10 or something like that which my mt brother bought and was fine but a bit slow alright for general stuff though

i have a kindle fire and would highly recommend them over any of the products for reliability

He is talking about touchwiz and I am talking about how it will be getting stock Android.

I have played around on a S4, they also have touchwiz. Samsung will keep using touchwiz for the fact it allows them to to go multi platform and keep the same look, good example will be when later this year when they release a phone running Tizen OS they will run touchwiz so users are already familiar with the product.

Now is that saying all S4 or they will be offering S4 with no touchwiz? To me sounded like it will be a option.

Correct, but more and more devices will have the option until it's the only option. It's what Google wants as right now their os is too segregated between devices.

Well hopefully that is what happens but until touchwiz is gone and dead I will when available only use Nexus products since I love my S3 but cannot stand touchwiz.
