Cheap Windows For Students?

We have MSDN where i go to college and we are allowed access even after graduation its part of our tuition so we get all of the windows and all of the msdn stuff for free I have been running vista since november for free on all pc's and we have it in our lab now as well.

I imagine you still have to be enrolled in a colledge or university to be able to download any full retail version or even OEM free of charge.

i was told that they will cut you off 3 days after your graduation... :)

cheap bastards... :D

Lmao i wouldnt be suprised for MS to do that...i was actualy wondering about that...if they stopped your updates & stuff after you have graduated and wouldnt be able to re-activate or something :D

My college does not cut us off as we are not that large of a school and i made the accesspoint site for msdn for our school and will still be the webmaster after i leave and i have set accounts to never expire per the teachers request they didnt want to lock students out they consider that we pay almost 80grand for a student that lives on campus for 4 years thank god i live with rents they just say its worth letting you access it for years to come!

i was talking about the school cutting off the account. the software you downloaded prior to it will still work... so like when windows vista godly edition comes out then you will need to buy it because you dont have an account anymore.

Can you guys help me out with MSDN, do I sign up for it or do my college and what information do I need? Thanks.

That isn't fair :(

We can't get that!

Some universities are able to offer reduced or free software but that's it really.

I've never actually heard of anyone getting any version of windows cheap or free. I went to a Uni that didn't offer anything.

If you want free software then look at opensource.

There's a thing Microsoft do that allows people in higher education doing sciences, I.T and other ones similair, to get discount software that they'll use for their course.

It's called MSDN, I was wondering what I need to do and what information I need to sign up for it...

I asked my lecturer about it and she didn't know, she asked me to find out some information about it and they would look into it... What information do you guys have for me that I need to tell her or have?

I'm on a Multimedia course so I think I'll fall under the catagory... I hope :P

some schools/collages/uni's Are part of the microsoft adadamy. This means that the college is able to provide access to software on there MSDNA website.

You will need to contact your college/school etc.. and ask them for the address, a user name and password. then you simply log in, stick everything in your shopping basket and download it all for free.

I download nearly everything on it, and just stick it on cd.

Thanks for the reply :)

I asked my personal tutor and she didn't know about it and said that I should find everything out about it and I don't know what information I need to know or should ask the college for?
