Ok I already have a card for gaming (GTX275), I just need another card that will support dual 1080p and dual DVI (preferably) something super cheap just need it for the desktop space.

I was thinking of a 9400gt ... is there anything wrong with that for 2 additional screens @ 1920x1080? I won't have any performance issues will I? for just using them to watch videos/surf net view charts (stocks).

you should pick up another 275 and do Sli, as long as your PSU and mobo support.

I don't need the performance, I mainly play WC3, sometimes other games(which require more GPU performance), I only gota GTX275 so I can play newer games at a decent setting. SLI is overkill for me.

AFAIK no single video card can run 4 monitors at once. the closest you can get would be an ati HD 5xxx card, they support up to 3 monitors at once.

instead of the 9400 i would get the 9600 gt, its not much more expensive and is VERY reliable. i really like the 9 series of nvidia cards :/ the 9600 gt can also handle quite a few games if that ever comes in handy :D.

oh and to the above poster,to supplement his data. most newer video cards only support 2 outputs... and its usually DVI.

You are forgetting that you can only have 2 monitors in SLI. So getting another GTX 275 for SLI would not help him.

He is not wanting a single video card for it. He already has a GTX 275 with 2 monitors. He just wants another GPU so he can have 2 more monitors, which will only be used for movies and browsing the net.

@curtains what is you're budget for the card. Also what kind of PSU do you have, and do you care if it is Nvidia or ATI.

New ati 5xxx cards support 3 monitors and soon to be 4 with newer drivers.

I don't have a budget, but I just want to spend as little as I can yet still doing everything I need it to, i have 700watt PSU, cause I planed for running 2 cards. The 9600gt is twice as much as the 9400gt. I don't mind using AMD/ATI cards as long as there's no conflict between the two cards.

Im definitely not gona buy a AMD 5XXX series card for this use, its just a waste of money, for what i need the monitors to do.

I only need them to display charts mainly (for day trading). And for gaming I already have a GTX275 which i'm more than happy with of the graphics quality.

+1

Just pick up a 6200LE or the ATi equivalent, they'll be fine for browsing / watching videos.

+ They're dirt cheap!

Nothing wrong with the 9400GT, IMO.

If you're using the card solely to get more desktop space, absolutely no gaming, any of the newer NVIDIA budget cards should do the trick (low end 9/8-series, GT220). I would steer away from ATI and older NVIDIA cards as mixing brands and older hardware doesn't always work out.

Yea, I would just go with the 9400GT or even something like the 8400GT if you can get it cheaper. I'm pretty sure you can't have an ATI and Nvidia card at the same time as the drivers will conflict with each other. Other wise I would tell you to get a 4350 or something like that but it wouldn't work, unless you have Windows 7 which I believe thay have fixed the driver issue with using different drivers at the same time.

You can have ati + nvidia cards at the same time, but you cannot use either control panel software, only the drivers. (CCC and nvidia control panel will stop the other card from working correctly.)
