Check out my build

So I'm building a new computer mainly for editing so I won't really need a gpu. Here is my build so far. My maximum budget is around 800$

I was wondering if everything is compatible and whatnot or if there is anything I should change. Also, is there anything else that I need to buy as I'm living in a dorm and I don't have anything with me (eg. screws and tools and such or stuff like thermal paste). Also, if I were to OC the CPU what cooler do you guys recommend or would the stock be good enough?

try stock, would be fine

for video editing i'd so jump up to the 3770k

see if you live near a microcenter.

a cooler master hyper 212 plus would get you to around 4.5GHz maybe, easily do 4.2 everyday

60 for the same thing

80 for 1866

and you still need windows, 7 is good but for the money and not gaming 8 is 70 bucks right now

Is my current ram not good? It's currently only 70$ with a promo code. And I'll definitely get the hyper 212 if I OC.

just one is cheaper and the other faster, didn't see the promo so thought it was the same price for faster.

Oh, that's a nice catch actually. I save 10$. Thanks.

EDIT: Would my PSU be strong enough if I decide to OC or/and get a gpu?

PSU should be fine for overclocking and a low-mid range GPU. I'd go for a CX 600 just to get a bit more headroom though.

I'd get an i7 3770K and probably a better board too for overclocking http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128546&Tpk=ga-z77x-d3h you don't have to get that, but that board would probably be better for overclocking.
Do you think this mboo is better than the one i have now?

Or do you insist that the mobo you picked out is that much better? I've changed my PSU to the CX600. I think getting the 3770k will make me go over my budget though as I still need a monitor. Unless I just remote control my desktop.

The ASUS you found is OK. It's more important you get a better PSU than a better board though.

Just stick to the ASRock you found if money is a problem.

i agree, that the OP should go with the z77 chipset, over the b75. if you go b75, youlose raid support. even if your not going to use it, you may later, and having extra features for the same price seems the smart thing to do. z77 is overall better too.

I have the z75chipset, not the z77. Is there a big difference between the two? Worth the 60$ difference?
