Hello, we just got a new computer, because our son deleted the hard drive on accident last time. He's 10 and doesn't really know what he's doing. He uses "Search" in the start menu and searches for AIM and gets on them. I don't want him to get on AIM because he just talks to anybody he sees and is not nice on it. But I use AIM daily to talk to my relatives. Also, he has figured ut how to download AIM. Can i block his Windows User name from searching windows or from downloading and installing files?

Set him up with a limited account, Start>run>control>user accounts.

That won't block the "search" feature.

You can set access defaults to programs. Just set it so he can't read, write, execute, etc the program.

If you want to stop him from running or installing programs, you can get a 3rd party software that will block programs with a certain word in the title. For example, if it says "Install" anywhere in the blue bar at the top with those three buttons, the program will block it.
