This is kinda computer related but more automotive than anything, I figured I'd ask here since I'd find more answers. I have an ECU for my car that is chipped with newer maps and settings to run the vehicle, and I'd like to upgrade to something else. The person from whom I am purchasing this new unit says he needs the BIN from the chip that's currently in the ECU, but I have no way of extracting it. One of my friends told me something about a "chip reader", and that a computer shop may have one, what is he talking about and where can I find one? Thanks!
Hmmm, perhaps something like that... But instead of just displaying the information like a scan tool, I need something that can extract the files from the chip. I'm sooo lost.
Edit: Went back to talking to my friend about it, here's what he has to say-
"tell them you need the ROM image read off a 28 pin ECU chip"
I don't know if that helps at all, I still have no idea where I'd go about getting that done. Thanks again.
