chipset cooler for dfi lanparty ut nf3 250gb

Uh... you're supposed to spec the cooler for the CPU rather than the mobo..... but id reccomend the Tt Venus12

?

Well the chipset has a little heatsink on it.....I didn't know if it was possible to put a little fan on the chipset as a safety precaution

If it didn't come with a fan, it prolly doesn't need it

Measure the hs, see if you can find a fan to fit it

That is a bbit warm, I would say a fan wouldn't hurt

What are the measurements of the hs? I think a gfx fan might be the right size....

Degrees fahrenheit or celsuis? If its fahrenheit its only warm, if its celsius its pretty damn hot. Without a heatsink you would have to be dissipating at least 1 watt just in the chip (assuming a 2.5x2.5cm chip, moderate convection coefficient, and 30C ambient air). With a heat sink you would be dissipating a lot more energy.... so I would assume your temp was in fahrenheit ;)

hey yeti

Hey buddy....is there anyway to do an update for your chipset????????? That is about the only way i can put that you would understand what it is that I am asking.......I know people come up with updates all the time and I was just wandering if you can do these to?

There really isn't anyway to update the chipset as the chips are integrated into the motherboard. The only thing you can really update in the motherboard is the BIOS.

Oh I just noticed chipset (rather than chip)... why do you think you need one?

Ya you can pop that whole thing off and put a new one on it :)

Is it a normal problem to have the chipsets hot
Depends on how hot its running

Mine are slightly warm, with no hs
Didnt you say you have a Athlon64? (i.e., what A64 mobo doesnt have a heatsink on the NB)

Then I wouldn't worry about it. A lot of chipsets don't even have heat sinks.
Where??? LOL which A64 board doesnt have a NB HS?

Chipset fan

I was going to get a msi board with a chipset fan on it but I decidesd to go with the dfi........I just noticed that the msi board had a fan on it and that is the reason that I was wondering maybe I needed one

I have 3 heatsinks, 1 on the CPU, 1 on the gfx, and one for igp

Arent the IGP and NB different chips? (i.e., what board do you have)

You helped my out with this 2 months ago, it is that salmon 1.03 or whatever crap in the presario SR1010Z

When you get to 1000+ posts/month mark, you'll understand why I dont remember, nor care, nor try to remember anyone or anything.
