Chipsets, ATI or NVIDIA

I'm thinking about making an AM2 computer, with an ATI card, would it be better to get an ATI chipset, or does it not really matter?

An ATI card will work on an nVidia chipset, and vice versa.

Personally, unless you want to use Crossfire, I would go with the nForce 5xx chipsets, since they are amazing!

OK... I know ATI cards will work in nVidia chipsets, but I didn't think you could actually run Crossfire without an ATI chipset. Same goes for SLI in ATI chipsets... However, I'm not really on top of this so I might be wrong.

I know you can't do that, and i'm not that interested right now in a dual graphics machine
For an SLI machine you need an SLI board and 2 of the exact same cards, that are SLI compatable
For Crossfire you need a Crossfire board, a Crossfire edition card, and any other ATI card that has crossfire support
