Chk disk

Hello all, just got on board.
Up to now I've managed to solve most of my problems without a lot of hassel, even if it's meant a reinstall.
However, I now have a laptop and don't want to get that intimate with it. So, re: laptop. for a while now every time it boots up, it wants to do a Chk disk. There's nothing in the schedule tasks can't find a reason for it. It's an irritation rather than a problem but I'd like to be rid of it.
Any ideas

Try to manualy scan your partition: Right Click on disk -> properties -> tools -> check now -> start. Maybe it will cancel that boot scans.

There are no errors flagged up. I tried the manual check. When I click "Start", a message comes up that says roughly that pc needs exclusive access to the drive do I want to schedule check for next start up.
Clicked yes, then restarted. Did the scan. No errors, restarted again, same as before, wants to scan again.
I don't have a restore point that pre-dates this issue. Looks like I may have to live with it.
Thanks anyway
