On my vista laptop i scheduled a chkdsk for next boot

but i getsomething similar to:

checking drive c.......
drive cannot be locked for access!

and it now does this every boot

a) why is this happening
b) how do i unschedule chkdsk

yeah its not when its in windows, so there are no user levels

its in the pre-windows bit (the bit where in xp, chkdsk is white text on a blue screen, except on vista its white on black)

Hmm, I don't know, but once the OS starts to boot the OS takes over the computer, so my guess it is something to do with the OS.

yeah i think maybe its doing something dumb like trying to chkdsk before loading the SATA drivers, and then failing. or maybe because my laptop has hidden recovery partitions?

either way, there must be a reg setting or something to tell it to unschedule the scan (dirty flag?)
