i've been looking around for a new laptop b/c the monitor on my current one would just shut off if i touch it wrong.

i found two that fits my needs and budget. this laptop is going to be my pc/gaming/"studying helper"

it has the video card, processor, and monitor. but it lacks memory, and blue-ray

this one has blue-ray, memory, and bigger screen

another question to those who know the quality and the lasting power of these 2 laptops? which one would last longer before they become obsolete? which one would operate better and doesnt break down often?

Thank for the replies in advance

Well this isn't a hard decision especially if you going to play games on it. If it was me I would go with the Sony. It has a better graphics card, better CPU, and Better HDD. The Sony also has a slightly bigger screen being 16.4" and the Dell only being 16". The Sony is going to be a lot better for playing games and will handle everything else with a breeze. Even though the Dell has DDR3 with the slower hard drive, CPU, and GPU it isn't going to matter. Plus the sony is a little cheaper but it is out of stock right now.

I, too, would go with the Sony. You can (usually) swap the dvd drive out for a bluray and add more memory later, but you can't add a bigger internal screen or graphics card and usually you can't swap out the CPU for a better one, even when you can it's a PITA.

The Sony is better for playing games with better resolution 1600 x 900 (vs the dell's 1336 x 768), faster CPU and hdd. And don't forget the 2% bing cashback.
