Chrome page buttons

Hi all, I have a problem with my Chrome browser as the the back & forwards page buttons (the top left arrows in the blue circles) do not work, and I have to close all open files sub files and pages with the X button.
Has anybody any idea how to turn them back on? regards Robert.

Hi, here is an update, I uninstalled Chrome with Revo uninstaller and reinstalled a new Chrome program, unfortunately that did not change anything and the dashboard still has two sort of greyed out arrows.
If I open windows explorer and then click onto a folder with subfolders the left hand blue circle with the white arrow lights up, if I next click a sub folder the folder will open but the back and forward buttons are greyed out, and for all sub folders and contained files which I open after that the back/forwards buttons are greyed out, until I close down all the open files and folders using the X button until finally I reach the first folder which I opened and the left hand blue button is live and if I click on it : it will return me to the Libraries page.
Regards Robert.

Hi, thanks for your help and my apologies for the confusion, so yes it must be explorer and not chrome which is at fault, although the problem is as above, and if I click on explorer and then click on my local disk (C) or storage drive (D) the L/hand blue button with the white arrow lights up, and once the folders list is populated I next select a folder of choice but from then on no matter how many sub folders I select or files within the sub folders the Back/Forward navigation arrows stay greyed out. Regards Robert

Again I ask, is it opening a new explorer window for each subfolder you navigate you? That is what it sounds like it is doing.

If so, go into Control Panel>Folder Options and be sure Open Each Folder in the Same Window is selected.

Hi voyagerfan, sorry I did not understand what you meant by a new window, but I do now thanks to your diagram, I did indeed have to put a spot in "Open each folder in the same window" and that seems to make life easier again.
My grateful thanks for your help, regards Robert.
