i would go with the toshiba... although it has a slower RAM type and hard drive... batter life will probably be good, the hard drive is huge, and it has a Core 2 Duo...

what are the laptops gonna be used for?

the guy at circuit city said toshiba as well. I will be using it for Itunes, Photoshop, Illustrator, DVD Burning, Internet, Email, Myspace, facebook, Youtube. Maybe games if it can handle it but im not that worried about it if it can't. Will all those laptops handle streaming video well?

couple more things. The 17" HP has better speakers, wider screen, and scrolling on the touchpad, so why do yall prefer the toshiba over that? Is it the processor? Also, the hard drive for the toshiba is only 4200 rpms. Will i notice it being slower?

the processor is one of the main concerns, yes... and for your uses, i wouldn't say the hard drive will form that much of a bottleneck...
