why does pearson/cisco want to know who i work for?
i'm studying/paying for my own exam, independently from my employer.

yes, this is a required field, i can't leave blank on the form.
 
It'll be part of their datamining to determine who uses their products. Put in n/a if you want, it should be a free form text field.
