Classic ATI Vs. nVidia

ATI
VS
NVIDIA

ATI 5970 HD Black edition (2GB)

nVidia GTX 285 (1GB)

So .. I've been testing those two and Nvidas "lower" class GTX 285.
beats ati 5970 by miles .. can this be true? Or is the just the words that people are saying that ATis 5970 should be better than Nvidias 280-290series.

No, that shouldn't be right, the 5970 should be wiping the floor with the 285

the 295 takes a pretty bad whupping, too
nVidia really need to make a current gen dual-GPU card (495 anyone?)

The main problem I can think of would be the heat/power.

For some reason nVidias cards seem to run hot and suck up a lot of power.

In fact, the last card that they had that was epic that was really popular, was the 8800 series. Those cards kicked ass. Since then, they haven't had as good luck making cards..

Can't wait for ATI's (Actually AMDs, now) 6xxx series
