Hi guys; i'm trying to do a clean install of win 10 Preview on my HP DV-5 1254US; 64Bit Intel centrino duo CPU 2.00 GHZ P7350,Intel Video Card 4500HD, and it starts install but asks me for drivers and tells me to insert cd or browse pc,i tried to update drivers but the drivers i'm running Win Vista Home Premium SP2 are up dated, and there are no other drivers for this machine,
this is the same Cpu and hardware of my other Hp Dv-6 1259DX that was running Win 7 and i've upgraded it to Win 10 Preview, and it's running like a champ.

I made a DVD Win 10 Iso from Microsoft,
Any body knows what i should do. thanks

So it gets to the point to where it asks you where to install windows and there is no drives available? If so, then check your sata controller setting. Should be IDE/SATA or AHCI.

How are you installing this? Though usb? If so make sure its a usb 2.0 port and not a 3.0 port.

i've installed Win 10 Preview with success, but i had to install Win 7 from an ISO image first, then upgraded to Win 10 Preview, now everything is running fine,i never could do a clean install of Win 10 due to problems with drivers for this old Hp PC.it took a long time to do the Win 10 upgrade due failed updates a few times,it took the whole day to install and upgrade, with much persistence and patience, hope after all this work MS won't make me pay for this Win preview, that would make me go back to Win Vista.

Hi guys Today my Installation of Win 10 preview sudden went mad,on my HP DV-5 the one that i had Win Vista and i installed Win 7 from an ISO to upgrade to Win 10 preview, i have virus all over the place,i received messages from MS that there is virus and malware and i should call MS and gave me a Phone # to call, i did not want to deal with it and i rolled back to win 7 and still same thing,so i just made a clean install of the original and legal key Vista sp2 and made updates and now everything is perfect,on my other Laptop DV-6 with win 7 legal key that i upgraded to Win 10 Preview it's working great still.I don't know if MS created this malfunction or not, maybe the detected that i went from Win Vista all the way to Win 10 preview and i was not allowed! who knows?

You most likely downloaded something you shouldn't have. Its very easy these days to get yourself into trouble when you download stuff.

Hi John: I think you're right, what i think that happened! for a little bit i entered in this sports site "Firstrowsports" with ad-block plus disabled,i don't know how it was deactivated, and from then on it was the chaos, i don't know why there was a notice from windows Microsoft, telling me the PC has been infected and i had to call MS with Phone # to talk to them, on how to Fix the OPS.

As you talk about downloading stuff, is very true, later on when i did a clean install of Win Vista and i needed Google Chrome, i opened a Link on Google Search and looked for Google Chrome, with more Stars) meaning that more people got satisfied with that download link ,my mistake, it started to download along with Google chrome All kind of Crap, like Registry Cleaner, all sorts of Games, all kind of Browsers, and much more,i tried to uninstall and the more i clicked uninstall and more crap downloaded, what a mess, so much so i gave up and re-installed Win Vista one more time, formatting HDD,and now all is good, but what a pain in the butt with Win, i don't get this aggravation with Linux ever.

For the record, if some one wants to install Google Chrome, just go to ESPN3.com, and you get the needed Flash player and Google Chrome at same time and free of crap.

I think all you had to do was run adwcleaner, junkware removal tool and malwarebytes and you would have been fine.

If you want to download chrome, you don't go to espn to get it. You go directly to google.

As i type this words now; i'm back on Win 10 Preview on this HP DV-5 laptop again and doing the same install process, formatting HDD with Vista, installing from same Win7 ISO, and upgraded to Win 10 Preview, i'm really stubborn, don't give up,and i'm up and running great again,
besides i trust Google Chrome and Ad-block plus add element,
the mess with the Malware and virus was my fault cause i did disable ad-block plus by mistake on 'firstrowsports'.

Also you right about Google Chrome download, i normally do it in Win Xp and Vista it makes it easier,

do you know if Win Defender is part of the Win 10 Preview protection? or what is the good Virus and Malware MS provides for Win 10?
i don't like to download the free software cause i feel it doesn't protect anything,i installed it before and all it gave me was a gazillion errors, and if i check the box fix it, it sends me to register and a payed version.
and i don't pay for any software,

check pic attach.

Windows Defender is junk, don't use it. And whatever you downloaded wasn't antivirus software, most likely malware itself.

Avast free is a good antivirus program in my opinion. Others will tell you the same. Need to run Malwarebytes along side of it.

Sorry if I am late seeing this...I was just curious as to why you upgraded Windows using a beta O/S. I would only do this for a final version of an O/S.

I am trying out Windows 10 beta using Vmware Player (free version). That way I don't disturb the host operating system. My host O/S is Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

There will be a new build of Windows 10 Technical Preview every month or two so to keep up with the changes I am going to install a new build every few months. I started with the original build. I just replaced it with the latest build:
Windows 10 Technical Preview
Build: 9926
Version: 10.0.9926
Release date: January 23, 2015

Note you can install Windows 10 Technical Preview with Vmware Player without even making a DVD. You can install it directly from the ISO file you downloaded.
