Hi. I just formated my PC and installed Windows Vista Ultimate once again. I always like this because the computer is so much faster when you just formated.

I would like you to give me suggestions in order to keep it like this and not have to format so that it speeds up again.

Thanks

Thanks. I downloaded these and will try them out. As antivirus someone on this forum suggested Avira and I am using that one. It seems good however it's update is very slow. How often do you recommend me to run these progs? For example once I heard that it is bad to defrag the hardisk frequently as this will demage it. Is that true?

CCleaner: it'll delete temporary files, cookies, remove damaged or useless registry keys. one of the best freeware programs out there.

Revo Uninstaller: anytime you uninstall anything, use this, rather than the default windows process. it'll not only run the programs uninstaller, but it'll scan your computer for left over registry keys and program files. i recommend running a "moderate" uninstall every time it's used.

Defraggler: far superior to windows default defraggler, run this every once in awhile.

also if you're looking for virus/spyware protection.

check out AVG Free, the best thing about it, it's free! it's also very light-weight and efficient.

anytime you run into any spyware/malware/adware of any kind, run Malwarebytes. by far the best malware/virus removing software out there.

hope this helps

As for free Antivirus software, this article may provide some good insight.

Avira is good. The update download speed has been slow for a week now.
