how do i restore my computer so its like new? like formatting the hd but not losing windows?

Well you can do a repair install of Windows. You will still have all your data, and you won't have to buy Windows again, but all your settings will be lost and you may have to re-install some programs. That's about as close to new as you want to go without formatting.

An easier but less efficient clean is a simple defrag, un-install of all unimportant programs, reset all your settings to default and re-configure everything.

i dont think you can do it w/o a disk, theres probally some way around it though

HP PCs that ship with Microsoft Windows XP and Compaq Presario Desktop PCs made in spring of 2003 and later already come with a hidden preloaded recovery partition. This hidden partition can be used to recover all of the original software in the event of a major problem by pressing the F10 key repeatedly when the PC is first started.
