Cleaning a LCD monitor...

hey guys last night i was drinking a protein shake and it spilled all over my table... I had to clean it all out of the keyboard etc, but I didnt realize some drops hit my LCD... now this morning i see like 2 little "bumps" on the screen... Is it safe to use water to try and clean it? anyone know?
 
i'd recommend a part alcohol, part water solution, as water tents to leave smeary marks and the alcohol helps it dry faster
 
So has anyone ever proven that Windex harms the LCD? I see no difference in both my laptop and desktop's LCD and I use Windex on both of them...
 
Here are the instructions for my ViewSonic:

"To clean the screen:
1 Wipe the screen with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth. This removes dust and other particles.
2 If still not clean, apply a small amount of non-ammonia, non-alcohol based glass cleaner onto a clean, soft, lint-free cloth, and wipe the screen."

The underlined words are from ViewSonic, not me. I have read that ammonia can and does dissolve anti-glare coatings. Windex contains ammonia.

my reccomendation, buy 2 microfiber cloths. take one and get it wet, wring it out so its only damp, then wipe the screen with it, then take the other and dry the screen off. works great with my lcd monitors.

You arent suppose to use Ammonia based cleaners on an LCD. I used it once (on accident), and it didn't harm it, but it also didnt help. I use vinegar and a clean rag.
