Cleaning CPU

dunno, i used bore cleaner with no ill effects. and i'd put it ot being as nasty as acetone

worked great at getting the old AS5 off the heat spreader and heat sink brought them back nice and clean.

Cleaning the cpu is gonna help you turn you computer on?

What are you trying to clean off anyways?

Trying to clean the Retail Thermal junk on the Intel Heatsink.

Currently I now put Artic Silver 5 in hopes of getting my temperature from
60C average to a lower one. I put the AS5 on and now it only turns on for 45 sec then shuts down. If I turn it on right away it keeps on for 9 sec, then for 6. :(

Ive heard of a computer not starting if the CPU becomes too HOT. Intel Has a kill function. if the cpu becomes too hot (aka 60-70 degress) it will automatically shut down. y do you think heat sinks were invented.

Attempt to get the Glue or watever it is off using some strong alcahol. Then buy new paste and put it on n re-install Heatsink. DONT RUN WITHOUT HEAT SINK OR HEATSINK FAN

Well my temperatures when the stock Heatsink/Fan and stock thermal junk was on were..... on this page High Temps?

Basicly they were:

On load: CPU: 88C HDD: 23 Mobo: I think 29

I cant read the temps now, since like I said my comp shuts off. :(

The 88C is NOT caused by the retail thermal paste junk. More likely it is caused by a inproperly placed heatsink.
