Cleaning whole PC

I want to be able to keep all my files i want and need, but basically want to clean out my whole pc to get rid of anything that may be slowing it down and such.

I did want to restore the whole pc, but this would mean all of my files would be lost.

any ideas?
 
The main way to backup data would be to CD, DVD or external harddrive.... any one of these would be great. Once you get all your data off that you want to keep you should aim to "Format" your computer, this is different to "resotring" as you mentioned just there.

If you need help formatting you should make a new thread.

ok thanks for the help. I'm now trying to save all my files onto a cd-rw, but its just not lettign me, how exactly do i do it ><
