Cleanup after running MWB

steg

New Member
I ran MWB and HJT on this computer after the virus protection lapsed. Could someone advise on any further cleanup that may be needed.

Thanks.

Did you have malwarebytes remove those entries? It shows no action taken...

Please run the following.

Download Security Check from here or here
Save it to your Desktop.
Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt.
Please post the contents of that document.

I did fix the problems found in the first scan. I must have posted the wrong log. I posted the latest log now.

As for security check, the links you had only brought me to a blank page. The bar at top came up saying IE blocked the site from downloading files. I click on it and select download file, but nothing happens.

I deleted the anti-virus that was lapsed and installed Windows Security Essentials.

Is there another link for the security check exe.?

Right click on that link and click on open in new window, it will then work properly.

Go into add/remove programs and uninstall the ask software if its listed and then also let me know what version of java is installed. You should have java 6 update 23. If other versions are listed, uninstall them. post a fresh hijackthis log after doing so.

Ask software was not listed. I deleted old Java versions and updated to Java 6 update 24.

Then click on fix checked at the bottom.

also you should uninstall adobe reader 8 via add/remove programs and install the latest version from here.

Thanks again John! I had to learn about "run as administrator" on HJT to get the selections removed. Frustrating when the option did't show up from the start menu. It only shows up when you go to the actual file location and right click there.

Now I'm dealing with Microsoft updates not installing but otherwise the computer seems to be working normally.

I thank you again and so do the many family members you have helped out by doing this. I have another PC that I'm currently working on that is pretty bad, so you may be hearing from me again soon!
