Clear cases

They scratch very easily
They aren't light
They are hard to transport right
They look like crap if you can't hide your wires

...but besides that...

4W4KS is right! AND they run hotter and the least bit of dust seems to gather everywhere, makeing them unattractive(not that I should be commenting on "unattractive) I think Aluminum with clear side panel is the way to go..

True but if you are careful that isn't a problem for the most part, just be careful installing components.

They aren't light

 Mines pretty light, lighter than most computers I lift all day long.

They are hard to transport right

Not as long as you are careful, and unless you frequently go to LAN parties this and many of the others you mentioned really aren't that big of a deal anyway.

Xconnect does a great job of helping with this problem. Very nice looking.

I have never noticed ANY heat issues. Just make sure you have good airflow (which you should do no matter what material your case is made up of). And I don't have a big issue with dust, granted my isn't a clear acrylic case, it's UV Blue, but still very see through.

I like them, and they do have scratch remover for them. My friend got some for his case and he said it work for a lot of the smaller scratches but he didn't have that many to begin with.

AND they run hotter
Eh, I would say that the difference wouldn't be noticeable. I could go into an analysis but I doubt it would be of much use to most people :P
What do you think of clear acrylic cases?
If handled correctly they can look nice, but it's really just an aesthetic preference.

If you mod or work on your computer frequently, it's a pain in the ass to try and not scratch your case. Run your fingernail along the acrylic siding...you should receive a nice gash lol. I did this on my friend's acrylic case since he already had torn it up pretty good and it's about as easy as cutting butter.

I've only lifted one acrylic case, so maybe it was exceedingly heavy. But it was a great deal heavier than my aluminum/plastic case. You might be working with steel cases, those are pretty heavy.

Not to mention...drop a steel case from shoulder height, it might scratch/slight dent. Drop an acrylic case, it'll probably crack/shatter. Durability isn't too good with acrylic cases. Not that we all drop our cases lol...but I've seen it happen.

That's just PSU wires. What about the rest? It can be done, It's just exceedingly harder when you can see inside the case from virtually every angle.

Scratch remover is yet another thing you have to buy to keep your equipment looking good. For me that would be a very big annoyance. I move my PC frequently as of late, and cleaning the outside is not really in my schedule lol. But everyone has their preferences, som people don't mind being very careful with there case and cleaning it often.

i plan on buying one...

the sunbeam one or i may go pre/assembled.

i may not order off new egg for that one though, its always out of stock.
but id buy it will 5 80mm fans so it should be good

who cares what your tower looks like. just make your computer clock high and run smoothly.

People do it because they like the looks of it. They do it for similar reasons they would make a car look nice, or decorate a house nice, etc. Of course what's inside counts more but there is certainly nothing wrong with making the outside nice.

It does take more patience to work with an acrylic case but I think it's worth it. It's all personal preference. Differing opinions is what makes the world go 'round.

I lift cases of all kinds including plenty of plastic and aluminum cases and I can definately say this is no heavier that the average case.

I would be pissed no matter what case I dropped and if I DID drop it I would be more concerned about whats inside it than the case itself. Also I never carry my case shoulder high, I always carry it in front of me and I am a short bastard so in reality it wouldn't have far to fall anyway lol.

Well that is the large majority of the wires right there, then it's not hard to sleeve the rest if you so choose.

yup, and besides, you want airflow to go under the mobo. they also help if you drop your case too :P if i were you, try to find some longer ones
