Ive tried everything and maybe Im missing something but how do I get rid of the black boxes (above) in the background of the icon text? They are usually clear but somehow they turned black and I dont know how to change them back to being clear. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm going to assume your running XP. Click right on the desktop, and go to properties. Go to the desktop tab and look in the bottom right corner where it says, "Color". Then go to other, and put the following numbers in the boxes on the right. Hue=139, Sat=240, Lum=72, Red=0, Green=78, Blue=152. Hope that helps you out.

Thanks but this was all that it does. Yes I am running XP pro ed. Its weird how it changed. Does anybody have any other idea? The text is supposed to be transparent and should be transparent with any backgrounds. I really need help because this change is really beginning to annoy me. Any other ideas if greatly appreciated. HELP HELP HELP PLEEEAAASSEEE!
Thank you in advance.

Yes, this is very easy.

Right click "My computer" -> Properties, then Advanced Tab -> Performance :click "Settings": -> Hit custom: scroll down and make sure that this is checked offed "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" should be your second last one.

Thanks for the tip but this didnt help. All this did was changed it to windows classic style. I had everything unchecked and just that one checked. All it did was just turned the icon background blue not transparent. Transparent should adapt to any background that I used and it should still be clear. What you suggested only works if the background was blue. Any other ideas or tips anyone.
