Is that a sata or ide drive in the case there? If sata you would need to prepare a driver disk with the drivers for the sata controller on it. Once that is doen press the install sata/raid drivers now key to browse to the floppy. The installer will then read and load those for detecting the drive. To simply wipe any drive clean you can use GParted for deleting the existing partition and later create a new ntfs primary. Simply wiping the drive won't stop the errors from being seen without the driver disk made up if that's a sata.
