There isn't really a surprise, just a question:

I posted quite a similar question erlier, but this one is slightly different; what is the real difference between a dual core processor and two seperate processors? And which one is better: the 2.8 Ghz dual core processor what I have or the '5.6Ghz (2.8Ghzx2) Dual Core CPU' that my potential next computer has. :good: If there is much difference, then by how much is one better than the other?

Dual processors will have multiple cores per each processor, they also have their own memory controllers so they can potentially access memory twice as fast.

However, the difference is really moot if you aren't going to use the horse power it yields. Most average applications and games do not take advantage of such things. So it really depends on what you ware doing because the cost difference of a dual core computer versus a dual processor computer can get pretty hefty.

I want to use it primarily for gaming, because my computer just dosen't cut it. I'm not sure what it is, but it can barely run the latest games on even the lowest settings. Recent-ish games like Left 4 dead it can run reasonably on low-medium settings. The grahpics card is only Geforce 7300 Le, but it dosen't feel like just upgrading that will make a huge enough difference. Will it? Also, the dual processor Pc that i'm looking at is surprisingly cheap for my price range (£400- £500)

Post the specs of it, a dual core processor current generation would out perform a dual processor rig of last generation.

Yes, it will, as long as your power supply can handle a more powerful GPU.

What type of graphics slot does your motherboard have?

My specs (as far as I know)

Dual core 2.8 Ghz processor (2 CPUs)
1 GB RAM
Geforce 7300 LE Graphics card

I'm not sure what the slot is but the device manager says PCI slot 10. Is that of any significance?

Its a ready built model from dell, its a Dell Dmo61

I don't know the comparison between a dual core and a dual processor rig however the reason for you're gaming woes is almost entirely your video card's fault. If you want gaming performance then upgrading your video card from that 7300LE will make a hell of a difference in gaming as that gpu is incredibly outdated and was low end during it's time as well.
