Clock Keeps Changing To Mountain Time

I have a 4 month old computer. When I bought it, I was in the mountain time zone and registered it from there. 3 months ago, I moved to the central time zone and changed the clock settings. Now I notice that the computer keeps going back to show central time. I change all the settings, hit accept and ok and then 10 seconds later, it changes back to mountain time. Any suggestions? I have not installed any atomic clocks.

I have to ask the obvious since you didn't state it clearly. Did you change the time zone to Central in the Time Zone tab of the "Date and Time Properties"? You said you changed clock settings but that could just mean the clock digits. What sync server are you using in "Internet Time" tab?

Yep changed it in the time zone tab. I unchecked the sync with internet time tab, and it still keeps changing right back.

Very strange.

If you are permanently connected to the Internet, try blocking your firewall and set time zone to see if some sync signal is coming from outside. There could be a sync signal from your isp or some app you have running all the time.

Do you scan regularly for malware?

Could it be a security setting in an app that runs all the time that prevents changes to the clock?

More advanced would be to get freeware Filemon by sysinternals.com. Stop all unnecessary apps. Run filemon, freeze and clear display, get time zone dialog ready, start filemon running, change time zone, allow filemon to run until clock changes back, stop filemon and examine file activity. It's very difficult to examine the data but there may be a clue where the change back is coming from.
