Hi guys,
So I'm having a major problem with my laptop. (Asus N550J) I just tried to upgrade my HDD to an SSD; followed some steps on a forum. I cloned my HDD on the SSD and replaced the HDD physically. When I booted the PC it just went straight into BIOS. So here is a list of what I am experiencing:
1. There are no boot priorities in BIOS and I'm also not able to add one. (however in BIOS I can see my newly M4 SSD is connected to SATA port 4)
2. When I connect my windows 8 recovery USB none of the options work. (with Start Up Recovery it says "the harddrive is locked")
3. When I connect the old HDD with an USB I am able to boot. It gives me the option to boot from 2 types of Windows. I am able to boot from just one of them. I accessed the Windows that I was able to boot from and did a Full PC Recovery to try and help resolve the startup issues. Take note here that I accessed the SSD (?!). So the SSD is now running Windows 8 and the USB-connected-HDD windows 8.1. Weird thing here: It boots from the SSD but when I disconnect the HDD it freezes completely until I reconnect the HDD.
I am still not able to boot to the SSD without connecting the HDD.
Did I do something completely wrong here or am i missing something? I don't get it. Anyone any help?
Thanks,
Tim
